Saying Good-bye

(for Dianne)

Will it ever be possible
To say good-bye,
To watch your smile fade,
Forget your voice?

Where will thoughts gather?
Who will be the keeper
Of memories,
The source of pictures
To our collective souls?

Time is encroaching.
Our pounding fists
Meet no resistance.
Just as my own battle
Begins
Yours ends.

I’m finding it hard
To say good-bye.
