The Words

As sisters slipping from the shore
With voices silenced by the night
Always reaching for our dreams
We sail along.  We’re losing sight

Of what we might have been had we
Combined our strengths instead of fears,
Believed in who we really are
In spite of distance, life and years.

Instead the words we need to say
Are locked away.  We stand alone,
No way to open up the door,
Afraid to use the telephone.

  1. Wow! I'm just knocked sideways by this one! I recognise those people and I've been locked into one side of a standoff like this. Maybe standoff is the wrong word because it was through fear rather than bloody mindedness that we kept ourselves apart.

    1. It's pretty sad when it comes to this, isn't it. For us it's mostly bloody mindedness, but fear is in there too. I've tried but I just can't find a way to "fix" it. Somehow I always end up in the wrong.
